Congratulations to ALL!
To Jake and Daniel and all those who made this happen!
To all the participants! those in Victoria and those who weren't able to finish the first stage as well! You've had quite an adventure however it went.

I'd have loved to be out there on the water, but with a broken boat during sea trials was able to help out as a volunteer instead. Watching the start from beach and dock was exciting! Tracking everyone and helping with communications in the operations center was intense, gratifying and fascinating.

The tide rip off Pt. Wilson was extremely rough Thursday morning. The speed of the first few boats was quite impressive. The wisdom of those who chose to drop out was greatly appreciated.

Personally I'm quite impressed with the endurance and commitment of Jimi, Team St. Brendan. He was on the water, constantly moving, for almost 25 hours in a kayak to which he'd added small outriggers, sail and oars. He arrived in Victoria very early Friday morning. Thursday afternoon he approached Victoria at the back of the fleet, but wind and currents pushed him north and east into and across Haro Strait and he spent the night working his way back south and west to Victoria. Congratulations Jimi!

Best wishes to the 29 boats and their crews who will head on toward Ketchikan tomorrow! We'll be watching your progress and cheering you on!
