ARGO is looking very good, Jason! S/he'll be a very solid ship... and I'm enjoying watching her come together, even if I don't comment a lot. Please don't stop posting on your progress, I'm sure I'm not the only one that logs in, looks at what's going on, and leaves without saying a word. You're doing a fantastic job!!

Hi Fellow Scampers!
With the hull painted, I flipped the boat back over last night. I did it myself using straps hung from the ceiling. It was not as controlled as I would have liked, but I got 'er done and its sitting on its skegs. Very exciting. I touched up any drips that had formed on the deck when I was painting the hull. Ready to start attaching hardware. I started this project Dec 31st, 2015....and it looks like I will have it done right around the 2 year anniversary.

Re: Building of SCAMP #349 "Argo" underway in Wisconsin, USA
Hi Everyone,
Big moment today....the Argo is on her trailer. I built a large flat carpeted bunk and installed it in place of the little roller that was on the bottom, towards the bow. I also built a flat carpeted bow support and installed it up by the winch in place of the stock bow-roller. The main bunks are 28.75" apart (inside to inside), and the bow support plate is 10 feet forward from the back end of the bunks. The 2" hole in the vertical bow support piece allows the winch strap to pass through, and the flat pram bow snugs up nice to the flat piece. I debated whether or not to go for a flatbed trailer or a roller trailer or a bunk trailer. The flatbed has many benefits, but rightly or wrongly, I decided against it because I was too worried about moisture/stagnant air /mold in the space between the flatbed and the bottom of the boat. Food for thought. I opted for a more ventilated, bunk version. Many more details on http://www.argobuilder.com for those who are interested.

Thanks ElHeffe and JHippe. Seeing it up on the trailer makes it looks more finished then ever. That said, I still have a ways to go. I am attaching hardware and rubrail a now. The weather is -11degF and my garage heater cannot keep up, so this holiday period was not as productiv as hoped. I also went to go attach my Davey&Co pintles to the rudder headstock and realized that the pintles jaws are spaced at 2-1/16” and my headstock is 2-1/4”.....so I have a bit of woodworking to do. I traced out pintles and routered recesses in the headstock to accept the pintles. Looks nice and now I will paint th recesses. Just another little curveball. All good. I’ll post some pictures later. Rubrail is going well and really finishes the boat.

I feel your pain on the cold. With the plastic up around the stall I am keeping at about 25 degrees in my garage. I am contemplating adding some rigid insulation to try to raise the temperature. I am really trying to push through as quickly as possible and don't want too many weather delays this winter.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures of your progress.

Dobrý den,
These past weeks have been full of work and also temperatures so low that my garage heater was not able to warm up the garage to working temperatures.....so....no work on the boat. I am at the stage of attaching hardware to the deck and hull. The mounting holes are drilled and ready, and I have finished dry fitting and removing hardware. If I get the garage warm enough, I will bed the hardware and rubrails in 3M 4200; this weekend might be the weekend for it! Portlights will be bedded in clear silicon.
I made anti-chafe strips for both the fore and aft edges of the roof, to protect against chafe from the anchor rode which will be run through a closed chock on the bow.

Jason,
Congradulations on the completion of Argo. Enjoy getting to know her!! I must say one of your early blog posts (can't even remember which one) actually got me to seriously consider building another Scamp. Now part way through my build, I'm so glad I started. I'm finding a lot of satisfaction in the little tweaks from my previous build. I'm enjoying the thinking game and the process of working through all the design considerations. Thanks for inspiring me!
