Yes, we're still on. Paul Breeding, myself (Johnny Walker), and a few others will be meeting Aug. 24th for several days at Coulter Bay, Lake Jackson. I believe we still have some space at a reserved tent/cabin. 'Just planning on casual sailing and good food & drink around the fire. I can be reached at 970 846-4624. Join us if you'd like! J

My wife and I will be there with my new Skiff America 20. This is a beautiful lake positioned at the base of the Teton range and only 2 hours from my home.
Anxious to meet others and see what their sailing.

That looks like a fabulous place! Was there much wind, for the sailors?

Cheers,

Dale,

The winds on Jackson lake are like most high mountain lakes. We had everything from a gentle breeze to gusty high wind situations. It seemed to change very quickly and without much warning. If I were sailing a Scamp on this lake, I would want cold weather clothing, including a dry suit and a complete rescue kit strapped under the veranda. I would love to go back with my new Scamp, but I would expect everything mother nature can throw at you, because that's the type of lake it is. The southern shore line offers many small protected anchorages, but give yourself a good half day to reach them. With oars and sail, one could do a lot of exploring. The southern end is definitely the most interesting from my perspective. Moran bay is breath taking and very remote. It would be an adventure for sure.

We also enjoyed the Grand Teton Raid. I'd propose for next year, a wonderful lake in Colorado - Steamboat Lake (8000'). Very suitable for the gathering in many ways, of which I will share in following posts. I suggest timing it with the scow regatta in mid-Aug. 'Love to get more SCAMPS there! Johnny
