Do any of you have a good system for getting Scamp out of the water and up onto a beach by yourself, solo? Please share what equipment you have used and how well it has worked?
Best,
Brent

Re: Getting Scamp up onto the beach
I use a continuous rope come-a-long with 50' 5/8" 3 strand (a hard to find item) winching over boat fenders, although longer beach rollers would be better. Wetted drifted wood also works. i suppose that a converted boat trailer winch would also work, although the coma-a-long has other emergency uses, as well. Johnny

Johnny,
thanks for the reply. Can you attached a photo of this setup or describe the continuous rope come-a-long in more detail? Also, have you used a sand stake to secure the end or have you simply looked for somewhere solid to tie off? Has 50' been sufficient length?
Thanks,
Brent

Re: Getting Scamp up onto the beach
I do have a photo, but not sure how to send it thru this blog? The "Power-Pull" was produced back in the early 80's by Maasdam in Burbank CA. The inventor's wife lives a about a block away from me here Steamboat Springs, CO. It looks like a well made com=along. Mine are over 30 years old and now are standard gear aboard Scamp #24.
Brent - I'll have it with me at our Jackson Lake gathering next Aug. 24th.

Thanks Dave. The "Power-Pull" has a great web site that is much better than my photo and the product seems to be still available. I'll see you soon at Lake Pleasent but will be traveling light with just a plywood (CLC Koholo) SUP.

Re: Getting Scamp up onto the beach
I am a believer in a power pull or cable winch, I have a couple of them.
However without one you can use your anchor line if it is long enough to reach a tree or some thing that won't move on the beach.
It works this way. The longer your line is to a tree the better this works. Go to the middle of the line and pull side ways. You have a two to one, three to one, four to one advantage depending of the length of the line. I have used this for getting a car unstuck.
This method also works with a power pull. Years ago a lumber jack showed me this trick

Re: Getting Scamp up onto the beach
I use a double pulley and a single pulley with 5 or six inch wheels. Thread the rope through all the wheels on the pulleys.....and wallah the 350 lb boat feels like 100 lbs. Most of the time I have no help getting my boat up far on the beach or in my yard....Just tie the long rope to any thing that is solid even to a bumper of my car works....I also put three bamboo poles under as i pull on the ropes. I tie several ropes together if the Scamp is far way. Going to the water I can roll the Scamp on the bamboo polls...it has a good grade going to the water.
