I used tongue & groove flooring. In the aft end of the trunk, I glued in the tongue.

In the fore end, I just used a tethered stainless steel pin from McMaster It goes into the fore side of the bulkhead and into the centerboard cap. It's loose-ish, but it's never come out.

Nice blog. You did a bunch of cool things. That looks like a good solution. I think what I will do will be slightly different. I think I will cut the cap and glue a small portion back on aft so that it overlaps the centerboard trunk opening say 1/2 inch. Then, I will have my cap plug just a bit longer than the cap itself so that it will fit under that lip. Then the quick pin like you recommend. That seems like it will work. Thanks for the info! I am reading your blog now from stem to stern, and you had some good stuff going on there. I don't know what the heck I am doing, but I am getting there! My boat will be much more stock for day sailing.
