Scamp 183 got a new motor mount

Post by Roux »

I built a beautiful motor mount about 5 years ago when I was building Scamp.

One problem, it didn't work very well. It wasn't stable enough to take the torque from the motor causing the mount to slightly rotate. It was a little worrisome. It took me a while but I finally got around to building a new one.

I built it from 1' teak, picked up a board at edensaw cost me about 50 $. I think this one will last longer than 5 years.

Here are the plans. The larger square goes on the transom. It also will need to be sized down depending on the thickness of lumber used. It was placed 6.5 inches up from water line.

I was looking at the plans that were below the picture, but on my computer the dimensions are hard to understand. Can you send them another way? Thanks. Jerry
Also, do you find that the teak outboard bracket stays out of the water when you are sailing and do you use a short or a long shaft motor?
