A little Plasti-dip on the stainless plate edges and the anchor brackets are ready to go:

There will be a little piece of steel, like a rudder stopper, above each anchor that will keep them in place if SCAMP goes over, and that I can flick out of the way to take the anchors out.

I am planning on sewing some anchor rode bags, or maybe use 2 gallon plastic gas cans that get strapped down to the sole in between the two anchors.

The tiller has almost complete free range of motion, but bumps the anchors near the extreme angles - It can move a bit further over if the tiller is lifted up.

Some of the many screw heads were a little to close too the surface. I kept trying to carefully sand/scrape/rasp them level with the surrounding wood, but the wood around them inevitably was worked away. Finally, I just took a drill and drilled them out. I don't know why I didn't just do this in the beginning, it took so little work to drill and fill those spots.

Once that was done and final fillet shaping/sanding finished, the first complete coat of epoxy went on:

And that brings me to the present!!!

Eric, I love the way you attaching the anchors. I plan on doing this same type of attachment, but fixing to the back or outside of the transom as opposed to inside the transom. Curious about your choice to use 2 anchors? Looking really nice, great work.

Thanks Brent!!! I am going to glue something (maybe 1/8" neoprene gasket) to the transom after painting (behind the anchors) to keep the transom from getting beat up.

I want 2 anchors because...

I plan on some adventures in places that might be remote. My last trip to the Georgian Bay was for a week, but I want to take longer trips in SCAMP. I think loosing an anchor on day two of a trip like that, with no back-up anchor could be challenging. A couple of years ago, on a trip to Lake Ouchita, I almost gave up on an anchor that was hung up on something (maybe logs) 25 ft. below. I spent 45 min. pulling from every angle, and finally got it back. That made me think...don't give up! And...good to have an equally capable spare. I think I might start using a retrieval line too for iffy bottoms.

On the few trips I have taken, I have often wanted to anchor in small coves to get relief from waves, but space was too tight to swing on one anchor, and sometimes climbing up onto a rocky shore to tie off a second line was hard. An anchor in front and one behind the boat can keep the boat from swinging around too much with anchors off bow and stern or both off the bow, bahamian moor style.

Anyway, that's my rationale.

Here are some shots from a trip to Georgian Bay, one of my favorite places!

I'm thinking about shelter at anchor. Part of the plan is to make a mast boot to keep water from dribbling in thought he mast box. I am not building up an exposed box wall that surrounds the hole to attach snaps to, like I have seen (and that looks really effective). But I did take inspiration from that and built up a little lip with bits of wood and thickened epoxy. Hopefully, water doesn't flow into the hole when a boot is snapped to the cabin top surface in that area:

If I can maintain some patience, I will try to get a tent made before I paint so it's easier to avoid existing screws when screwing in snap studs. But...not sure I can wait. My plan so far includes one aluminum tent pole in the oar locks, water resistant zips with covering flaps, weathermax fabric, and no-seeum secondary doors for dry/buggy nights:

Eric, Looking very good my friend. Love the tent drawing with the single hoop design. This may well be the sweet spot for quick deployment while maximizing interior head room.

Also love the pics from Georgian bay. I hope to sail there someday. Maybe we should do a week long Scamp Raid there in 2019 (Hagoth whispered that to me). What do you think?

Great pics and nice looking build!

I am all in on a Georgian Bay Raid! Have canoed there many times, and would love to sail the SCAMP there.
