Condensation considerations in sealed compartments

Post by Jason Builder »

Hi Everyone,

Looking for some experienced advice here on what consideration should be given to moisture/condensation in sealed compartments of plywood boats such as SCAMP. Specifically in my case, the space beneath the sole and aft of my footwell is completed epoxied and sealed-off. I do not want to use those compartments for storage and I would prefer not to add obstructive vents onto the floor (sole). Can I just leave those spaces sealed off, or will moisture from condensation create problems? Must a deckplate be added for ventilation if nothing else?....or can I leave this compartment sealed off?

Thank you for your advice on this,

Jason

6.75" inspection/ventilation port cut into aft sole section. This will accommodate an Armstrong deckplate. The sole is taped off for application of non-skid....

Thanks
