Hi Guys,
Scamps oars are to be somewhat between 2,7m and 3,0m- in any case too much for storage on the cockpits floor.
As mentioned on the plan I could build a cavity to stow the oars away- but I 'd prefer to have a collapsible pair of oars.
Did anyone modify a normal pair of oars? How do you make the connection? What way are the oars connected? Any ideas??
Best, Martin

Duckworks has carbon fiber ferrules. You need a set of those.

A simple solution is to make a small notch in bulkhead 6 and 7 behind the existing coamings. 2 pc oars tuck nicely up, under and behind the coamings. I did this on my boat and it worked perfectly, the oars more or less disappear this way and come out easily when needed. These cuts can easily be done after the coamings are installed for the builder who is at that stage.
I made 1" thick seat cushions and feel 1" is appropriate for a boat the size of a SCAMP, very comfortable and allow easy access to the oars. If you don't use seat cushions your oars will easily tuck up and out of the way with easy access.
I understand Brent's coaming cut out is due the 2" thick cushions. Makes sense in his case.
Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
thanks a lot. With foldable oars it is all no problem. But i can't finde some (i live in Germany) and Duckworks really cool carbon fiber ferrules are quite costly if sent to Germany...
Any experiances with making oars with own ferrules ?
Best Martin
