Camp Cover/Bimini/tent

Post by Watermark »

When I bought Klompen (hull number one from the Gig Harbor mold) from Dick Harmon it came with two tents. One is a single hoop tent that’s similar to the one Howard is producing and made for Southern Cross that I use when I’m cruising solo and the second Dick made that is much roomier and has three hoops. I still like the single hoop tent but decided to splurge and get a tent made by the Tom Parks in Happy Valley OR who makes them for Gig Harbor Boatworks. The first one he made was for Sergai’s SCAMP Serenity and my wife liked the idea of having some shade while sailing in gentle winds as well as at anchor.
The problem with the three hoop tent is it takes a bit longer to setup and the new tent also acts as a bimini as well as goes together quite a bit faster.
Tom does an amazing job and it turned out beautiful. I spent the first night aboard recently on an overnighted on the Columbia River and I’m really pleased with it. Tom charges $950 for a basic version and I paid $1150. The differences are I got it with a cover for storing it folded forward on the veranda roof when not using the Bimini up, with a storage case for the front, back and side panels, and with stainless steel hardware as opposed to plastic. He also fitted it to my boat and installed all the hardware and snaps which I was loath to do and am pretty sure I couldn’t do as perfect a job located the fittings as Tom does.
If anyone is interested in getting the best tent for your SCAMP,Toms number is 503-534-1195.
I tried posting a picture of both tents but the file is too big. I can email pics to anyone interested just pm me.
I’m also selling the three hoop tent Dick made for the boat originally so if anyone wants a roomy less expensive alternative to one of Toms creations I’d sell it for $400 shipping included to lower 48. My number is 720-560-1178.

Be great if you could resize the images and share them on the forum. reduce them to 300K or less :-)

I tried to reduced the size but it was still too large.
I’ll try doing it through my iphone. I think I’ve been able to get pics smaller through it

The modern cellphone camera takes very large photos.

For quick and simple size reduction on a PC I use PAINT and reduce the image percentage to 15% of original. On my phone, Android based, I used PHOTORESIZER.

I notice now I typed incorrectly the file sizze limits ... Should be 300k or less. (300MB is a bit much!).

Another easy way is to use the "Snipping Tool" (on Windows) or Command+Shift+4 (on a mac). Just pull up the image on your screen, snip it, resave it and its much smaller.
