Went to WestMarine catalog and it clearly shows a propane bottle, setting on the deck, fueling an outboard engine. I fully agree that in the case of "Permanently Installed" propane systems in boats that have below deck spaces and bilge areas that the installations as illustrated should be complied with in the interest of safety. But I don't believe that we are talking about anything that is a "Permanent Installation", what I see is a portable outboard engine being fed by a portable fuel tank in a small open boat. As for bilge spaces, correct me if I'm wrong, (haven't got plans yet), but it looks to me that all space below the floor is sealed for purposes of flotation and therefore are not bilges but rather flotation chambers and not subject to heavy vapor flooding.

How about fitting a bottle in the bow compartment sealed off with outside ventilation?
