9mm vs. 10mm plywood, much difference? 6.6 oz. vs. 5.5 oz.

I have sourced marine plywood in Thailand and they have 6mm and 10mm but no 9mm. Is it that much of a difference if I have to use 10?

Also, I asked Neil Pryde Sails if they'd make a tanbark Scamp sail and they said they would for the same price as the cream color. Really nice of them as it's a one-off. It's only available in the 6.6 oz. and I was wondering if anybody had an opinion about how much a difference it would make. I love tanbark and my son is set on the color. He's 8 and since he was 4 he's been pointing out tanbark sails whenever we come across them.

Thanks for the input.

You might get a good answer from the Neil Pryde folks if asked. I suspect that materials wise you're looking at a sail a pound or two heavier and I'd think somewhat more durable. Need somebody with real sail knowledge to get more than an opinion.
