I didn't realize we are neighbors. I live in Aurora, Colorado. Are you connected with the Sage 17 project as I understand it is made in Golden?

In case Dave Scobie doesn't answer promptly (he does work for a living) he most definately does work for the Sage 17 company, as thier representative.

He is a huge fan of Scamp and has been generous in his support, including the metal cutouts of the Scamp that everyone attending received at Havasu in February.

There is also another Scamp being built that is well underway in your neck of the woods.

Forgot to say it is Paul Breeding in Golden, CO who has a Scamp under construction.

Looking at the map of where Scamp builders are located gives you a good idea how far you are from others.

Yes, Mike, Paul and I have known each other for several years. I go see his SCAMP under construction every couple of weeks. He claims I go there to drool over it (smile). As to the map of where plans/kits have been sent, it does help but there is no contact info just a sail number. This is appropriate caution for the privacy of the builders. I also know about the gentleman in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I suppose an interested party could appeal to the folks at SCA to alert the nearby builder that an interested party is trying to reach them. Perhaps the Editors could comment on that. It would be the builder's choice whether to allow themselves to be contacted. (I visit Paul in Broomfield. Dave is in Golden. In any event, they are not far from each other.) Perhaps the map could be modified to indicate when a SCAMP has been completed (just a thought). Mike, I think your SCAMP is the closest one to Denver Metro that is completed. It might be useful for people becoming interested in SCAMP to be able to see or sail one before taking the plunge. I wonder if that is something this community sees a need for and could figure out? Any thoughts on this?

Mike and I try and let people know where the Red Scamp is heading for and we often meet people along our route, as well as at the destination.
The next spot Scamp will be is the Eastern Messabout in Elk Neck State Park in Maryland, the Chesapeake. Then down to Oriental, NC and back to Oklahoma. This is June 1-4 all along Interstate 40 coming and going, except the little leg down into Coresound area in NC.

She will be in the TX 200 again this year, all along Texas coast from Port Lavaca and Port Aransas back to Seadrift, TX. On that one he drives down to Dallas and south to Houston, then southeast to Rio Grande Valley in Texas, then reverses back to Oklahoma.

People are welcome to contact us personally and we will try and arrange to meet them or they can attend any event we are at and Mike will take them out as crew and let them sail the Red Scamp.

That is really way to appreciate the boat. I suspect anyone who gets to sail one becomes an instant convert.

As far as Colorado, we tried to get in a trip with her last year and I am sure Mike would enjoy getting to sail her there if we can put a visit together.

Or you can visit us at Sail Oklahoma! and get to try out the Scamp and get the added benefits of five prominent designers who will take part and offer seminars this year, Michael Storer of Australia, Richard Woods of Canada, Jim Michalak, Dave Gentry and David Nichols of America. All events are no charge so you get to see hundred boat models and the designers who created them, the builders who built them. Plus food, games and lots of sailing.

And at least one Scamp, maybe more?
