Ordering portlights and watertight hatches. Kees has worked out a nice kickup rudder design. Tiller will come through transom cutout. More photos in a day or so...—Eds

Here's SCAMP today. Still upside down, but her bottom is glassed and she's about to get skegs. Note photo of skeg almost ready. Also a photo of CNC-routed rudder blade.

SCAMP's new ports arrived. Made by Vetus. Stainless and opening. We're going to put two on each side. One for light under the veranda, and the other forward providing light in the stowage cabin.

Not much new to look at today. The drain plug for water ballast is mostly installed. Rudder is under assembly. Photo is Simeon at work on rudder cheeks. Rudder foil is also rather elegant, IMO.

Seats are about to installed permanently and then it's time to paint. You can see size of seat hatches in photo of seat top. Off-center centerboard has a sealed top and should be marvelously unobtrusive.

Rumors of some very adventurous things being planned by owner-builders of SCAMPs, but more on that later. Let us know if you think you want a kit from the first batch. Our CNC guy is being called away to do work on an America's Cup boat, so there might be a bit of a lag between first batch and subsequent kits. Should have pricing later this week.—Eds

Here's a shot of school kids from Chimacum, WA looking over SCAMP. The most common question was "What color will the boat be?" Builder, Kees Prins suggested the students offer their own suggestions. The picture below shows some of the colorful recommendations.

The prototype has some paint on her now. Hope to post photos tomorrow. —Eds
