There's a 31st Anniversary get-together at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding tomorrow, August 4th.

Quote:
SPECIAL GUESTS / SCAMP: New Zealand boat designer, John Welsford and small boat adventurer, Howard Rice will be joining us to "share the love" for our favorite pocket yacht SCAMP. Small Craft Advisor's SCAMP #1 will be in the water for demonstration rides . SCAMP CAMP participants are encouraged to attend for a sneak preview. (SCAMP CAMP - "Building and Sailing SCAMP with John Welsford & Howard Rice" workshop starts on Monday August 6th- call for details: 360 385-4948)

More info here: http://www.nwboatschool.org/alerts/Alerts_Detail.aspx?processID=99

I'll be there, drooling over the SCAMP and making a fool out of myself. :) Anyone else planning on going? Arlie, isn't that next door to you?

Hope to see you there!

Wish we could be there with all of you! What is the nautical equivalent of "Break a leg, you guys?"

Love, Jackie and Mike Monies

Julie, I'm sorry we will miss the event. You're right it's about two miles from us. I hope to meet you soon and can show off Humu. We have a committment tomorrow. You will all have a wonderful time. It's great seeing all ten Scamp kits waiting eagerly for "the build." We met Joshua and Simeon last night and got a pre-tour. I hope to drop in Monday. Enjoy, Arlie.

We'll meet up one of these days! I'll be heading over sometime in the next two weeks to gawk at the builders and admire their boats. Hope Humu is going well- I am dying to see more pictures. I know it's going to be one sharp looking little boat.

Julie, We should be in the area. We intend to check out the "Scamp Camp" daily without being pests. Our son Todd, is normally off on Mondays and Tuesdays. Be nice if you could meet him, since he is making the sail. Give us a heads up when you are coming. Our number is 360 379-1253. Humu is presently getting several coats of primer on the topsides. Hull is already painted.

Arlie,

Thank you for the contact info! Sounds like I'll be over there both on Saturday and on Tuesday. I'm dragging my brother to look at the SCAMP builds (I'm hoping to get him inspired to perhaps build his own someday) and then heading over to Edensaw. I'd love to meet up with you both!

Hope your build is continuing well!

Julie, Tuesday would be great, as you could meet Todd and see the sail.
Saturday morning is busy, Bette and I have Jefferson County Fair volunteer duty. Anytime after 2PM is fine. I'll try to remember to keep cell phone on. Number is 206 902-6428. Your scarf joint and glue up is impressive. I'm off to the "Scamp Camp" to see the progress.

Thank you, Arlie! The scarf joint success is completely attributed to the West System Scarffer. I'll let you borrow it when you get started on your next boat! :D

I'll give you a call after 2 on Saturday. I'm sure we'll have just arrived by then- last weekend it took us about 4 hours to get to Port Hadlock from Edmonds.

Julie, I'm assuming the four hour trip to P.H included the ferry. It can really backup on the weekends. We will make a point to be home by 2PM on Saturday. Use the first phone number. Thats a land line. Cell phones are spotty in P.T. Checked into the Scamp Camp this A.M. and things are going very smoothly. They switched to fast reacting epoxy and the cure time is about two hours.

I saw some pictures of the Scamp Camp on the Wooden Boat Forum and, wow, I'm so impressed with how fast they're moving along!

It all sounds great, talk to you soon!
