Getting ready for a short cruise.

Post by Michel »

I am planning to sail from Montreal to Sorel, on the St-Lawrence. It is about 40 nautical miles. It should be a nice little cruise with two nights aboard.
I should depart the day after tomorrow. :)

The Master and Commander cabin is ready!

I have not been sailing since Memorial Day. I should have burned more incense to the weather gods I guess. When its not 95 with no wind, its 90 with gales or torrential rains. This has been a horrible summer so far, even my tomatoes are not growing!!!

Michel, I see your boat sleeps one in comfort and two in sin. Nice clean interior.

It is very hot around here too! I may pospone my cruise because of that! I will see tomorrow morning.

Yes, my little cabin is not too bad. The typical 18 footer cabin without a galley and everything. This is camping on the water. ;)

This is a swing keel right? I didn't realize you were only two feet longer than my Sunbird 16 but it looks like so much more boat (your ballast weighs more than the entire Sunbird). It really is a neat little boat. I never overnighted on the Sunbird but I have on the Helsen. The Sunbird I would have had to scoot in and wrap myself around the compression post in the middle of the cuddy. Too claustrophobic for me!! Can you stand in the cabin on your boat? I can't on the HenriLina, I have about 4 foot of headroom unless I pop the cabin top, Too much trouble for one person although it would be cooler if I did.

I have camped by motorcycle. I have a tent that isn't much bigger than a sleeping bag with a Bimini. Some of my camping equipment has made its way to the HenriLina (my little cook stove and the lantern)

I like your boat, but then again if it has sails I like all boats!!!!

Well Bon Voyage Mon Ami

It is a ballasted drop daggerboard (300 pds) It only has sitting headroom (about 4 foot)
That boat feels like a bigger boat and is very good going to windward, a very good thing when fighting the current! :)
