Sandy Point ramp?

Post by McKee »

Anyone familiar with the ramp and the entrance at Sandy Point (near Ferndale Wa)? I all thinking of putting in there with the black skimmer and am wondering what sort of tide I can get away with.

I wouldn't recommend less that 4.5' to 5'.
It is a fairly steep ramp but get slippery for my tow vehicle.

It's a long way out through the channel with a couple of doglegs. I wouldn't recommend sailing out with any kind of a southerly. Maybe not even with a northerly.

Well... that was eventful. So here's what I now know, slack water only, preferably high slack. We went out with next to no wind, on the last of the ebb, and were greeted by 50 yards of 4 foot breakers. More alarming than dangerous, but still. Made me really glad that the boat only draws a foot.
