No more boatless!
I found my new boat! A very nice Tanzer 16 dinghy. She must be from the early 1980 with good sails. I will check for the age but the boat is such in a near perfect condition that it doesn't really matter.
It will be fun to start a new sailing adventure with a very different boat.

Well... that was fast. Good for you Michel. So you went from 18.5 to 16... I guess the Tanzer will be that much easier to rig and sail. Being a Tanzer, you could name her Tania or Sweet 16.

Thanks Jacques! Yes I could not stay boatless for very long. I feel that I will enjoy the dinghy type of sailing a lot. Very easy to tow. It is like there was nothing behind the car! It will also be very easy to rig, compared to a Sandpiper. My goal is to bring back the boat home after every sail. I want to be free from the marinas and everything. I could have got a brand new set of sails every season for les than the price of renting a dock!
Still thinking about a name!

Re: No more boatless!
Really nice boat. One thing I noticed going from a cruiser to a dingy is that the dingy handles like a go cart compared to the cruiser. When I first went from the Lusty Slogger (16 foot day sailer) to the Helsen (22 ft cruiser) the Sunbird would move as soon as I touched the tiller. The Helsen was "what, what are you saying? Oh you want me to change directions. OK, let me finish my coffee first"
While I know you were planning on sailing the Sand Piper to foreign shores and that might be a bit impractical with the new boat a whole new world will be opening where you can get closer to shore and inside coves you just couldn't do before.
Have fun, personally I prefer the day sailor because of its ease of sailing.
BTW, naming a boat is an extremely personal decision and should be entirely up to you. However, after you do name it you must not forget the Naming Ceremony or else it will rain and sleet every time you go out!!

Thanks Norman! I will not forget about the ceremony! I don't want to be hit by a waterspout or something!

My trailer lights! It may look like the back end of some car from 1959 but it will work very well this way!

Re: No more boatless!
Before you rename, don't forget to un-name. Otherwise, the christening ceremony wont work. Totally agree with Norman, naming is up to you. Was just having fun. As for the trailer lights, I imagine you put padding behind the board to protect from scratching as the board will be swinging.
