Leeboards - Help me understand how they work

Post by kclancy »

Hi All!

I have a new-to-me Dovekie, designed by Phil Bolger and built by Edey & Duff. It has leeboards, but some of the parts must be missing. I am missing the pieces that hold the leeboards to the boat and make the boards adjustable in the up or down positions. I think I am missing some kind of cam/spring/handle.

I am hoping that someone on this board has some knowledge they can share with me. I am also hoping that since this boat is designed so simply, that I can make or rig something that could work.

I can't seem to upload any pics. Darn!

Thanks!

You might try contacting Hugh Horton from Small Craft Advisor. He is a big proponent of leeboards. I have spoken with him and he is very knowledgeable and helpful.
I will contact him for you and ask if he minds sharing his email address.
