Hello All,

A few of us are pulling together a messabout this year (2011) after having skipped 2010. More than 40 folks have logged in in just over a month so far and early nose count is a dozen, with more than a dozen boats.

Here's the URL: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EasternMessabout/

Preference seems to be for Elk Neck State Park, MD on June 3-4-5. I've sailed there and it a great site; we're waiting for the Park to respond to a couple of questions before making it "official". As you'll see, there's a good range of boats .. sail, row & paddle .. powered is welcome too. Mostly home built or rehabbed. Strictly informal messing about .. maybe a raft-up for lunch across the water to Cabin John Creek; possibly a PuddleDuck race or two.

There are more details and many posts on the Yahoo Group .. consider yourself invited !

BTW, my family renewed my subscription to SCA last month ! That and a porta-potty made for holiday gifts.

Fair winds & favorable tides.
Bob Throne

IT's ON !

June 3-4-5, 2011

ELK NECK STATE PARK, MD.

An informal gathering for people who want to "mess about" in boats .. sailboats, powerboats, canoe & kayak; home-built or commercial. Nail & glue, stitch & glue or "traditional" The more the merrier !

Thanks to everyone who made a suggestion & lent encouragement. It looks like about 20 boaters are "in", with more than 25 - 30 varied boats .. & another dozen likely. A list of attendees & boats will be up shortly (see 'Boats' Files links at left).

http://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/central/elkneck.asp .. see 'PHOTOS'

CONSENSUS PICK .. Several of us have been on the water there previously & it has a fine ramp, handy sand beach to gather on, great water for boats small & large, good camping(tho' not at the beach), & most central to the 60+ who have logged in so far. Nearby motels & supplies.
