The Log of "Dauntless" Entry 6

The first day of the Montgomery San Juan/Gulf Islands cruise is in the books. We had a great sail from Anacortes to Blakely where we overnighted. Many of the boats reported holding boatspeeds of 7 knots while making the crossing of the Rosario Straight. It was an awesome sight as the majority of the fleet stayed pretty close together so at any one time you could see Montys everywhere. Blakely Island Marina is as picturesque as ever. Its groomed grounds are beautiful beyond description. This morning the group is sailing to West Sound on Orcas Island before heading to Blind Bay on Shaw Island to anchor for the night. Jo, Bosun, and I are going to jump over to Friday Harbor instead, as it's a little more dog friendly. All the land around Blind Bay is privately owned and shore landings for dog walks are not permitted. There is a small island, but we want to spend some time at Friday Harbor anyway. The group will show up there on Tuesday and we'll hook back up with them then—Sean
