How fast is your Scamp on a cruise
Hi Guys,
i'm planning a little bit for this year. What is your average speed during a voyage? What are you using as a average speed? Is 1.5kts OK?
I'm curious for your ideas
By the way- there is some stuff on youtube from my build:

I'm sure Dale or Keith have an average speed in mind. I just bumble bee around and think 5 miles a day is super mellow, 10 miles a day is comfortable, more then 20 is strenuous.

Who wants to pull anchor when you find a spot like this!?

I typically plan 3mph or 2.6 knots.

Thank you guys, that helps a lot.

Hey Martin,
That is a sculling oar lock. I've only used it a couple times, but it was a nice option when Dale and I struck the rig and cruised under a low bridge on the Lower Columbia river in Oregon State.
I think it's worth adding as a secondary steering option to get you back to the dock if you lose your rudder.
Also my Crab pot puller mounts in it.
Happy cruise planning!

that's what i thought. I've got one on my Scamp, too. I just have to learn sculling (1st try was frustrating... ).

Re: How fast is your Scamp on a cruise
Hey, Martin,
Looking back through my logs, my average overall is 2.5 nm per hour.
Of course, if it's a big rowing day, I can't maintain that, more like 1.5 kts... and, on a good downwind blast, Derek and I covered well over 20 nm after a lazy breakfast and leaving time to walk to the pub before dark!
Cheers,
Dale
