Hardly seems like the same boat; yet it is. Wonderful work Art. Always a pleasure to follow your restoration of "Spark". After all this work, I guess you'l want to sail her soon.

I did get to sail her, for about 100m. We had small craft advisories all weekend. The forecasted 10 to 15 turned to 15 to 20 with 30mph gusts.. all out of the north which gave us a nice fetch right into the docks.

Saturday, we had a lull in the wind for a few hours so I tried to get out. Raised the main and pushed off of the floating dock I was on to tack out of the harbor area. My mistake was not in lowering the rudder. Between the waves, fighting the wind, and the raised rudder having too much leverage on the tiller, I ripped the tiller mount right off the rudder head. I had just enough control left from the single screw that stay in to get her into the wind, lower the main, and let the wind push me back to the docks.
