Hello all, I'm a newbie here. My wife and i are thinking about getting a small boat, A West WRight Potter or such, for poking around. We're on the east coast of FL and can pretty much only get out to the Atlantic. My question, is this a reasonable thing to consider? Any suggestions on where to get more localized info? Thanks for any thoughts.

Hello Jim,
I don't see why not. I am on the opposite coast but sail on the SF Bay and Monterey Bay regularly. One has to be very aware of weather and sea conditions and boat accordingly.
I might suggest you post your questions to the Trailer Sailor Forum also;

Where are you on the East Coast? I am based in Boca Raton and can get to the ocean from the ramp very easily. However, the Boca Inlet can be trouble on days when you have wind! I have checked out the ramps in West Palm Beach and am looking forward to sailing in Lake Worth and up around Peanut Island. Is that your area?
